Historically, there have been three educational philosophies that have directed the practice of IT: Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism. Over the years it seems there has been an evolution of theory from behaviorism, to cognitivism (Human Processing), to constructivism, where majorities of educational theorists and practitioners specifically subscribed and researched one of the above listed domains. More recently, most practitioners, although recognizing the importance of each theory, and its associated pedagogy, have taken a more eclectic approach, instituting a myriad of the ideas and skills associated to each theory in an effort to more effectively meet the needs of individual learners.
