Assumptions about Learning

  • Knowledge is constructed by the learner as they attempt to make sense of their experiences.

  • Learners are actively seeking meaning and knowledge.

  • Learners construct their own knowledge through their experiences.

  • The learners constructs do not necessarily represent the world as it really is.

  • Learners test their knowledge against others, and more importantly against teachers and more advanced peers.
                                             (Driscoll, 2000)
